Fall Cleaning!
2006
Cono Sur Vision Viognier $9.99
Notes of apricot, peach and citrus fruit combine with
a subtle touch of oak. Pair with stir-fry or wok-saut*ed
white meats and vegetables.
2008
Cono Sur Sauvignon Blanc $9.99
On the nose, very fine grapefruit, white flowers and
citric hints combine with a mineral character. It*s
an expressive Sauv Blanc, with great acidity and a lovely
long finish.
2006
Glen Carlou Chardonnay $9.99
This full bodied Chardonnay exhibts aromas of ripe apple,
melon, citrus, and spice. The flavour follows accordingly
with juicy apple fruit and acidity finishing with lingering
oak notes.
2006
Los Cardos Merlot $9.99
This Merlot offers complex aromas of ripe red fruit
and dried herbs, combined with prune and hints of spice.
Smooth in texture, this wine is juicy and well balanced,
providing a peasant finish.
2006
Villa Maria Hawkes Bay $9.99
This wine features red cherry, raspberry and cassis
fruits with cedar spice and faint tobacco leaf undertones.
An approachable palate follows, enhanced by fine grained
tannins and good length.
2006 Glen Carlou Cabernet $9.99
An intense nose of green pepper, clove, nutmeg and earth
lead the way to this full bodied South
African. Flavours of red current, raspberry and herbal
notes finish nicely with oak tannins.
Cheese
Roth
Kase Surchoix Gruyere $15.99/lb
The best of the best, this cheese was hand-selected
for curing at least nine months. A cheese-plate centerpiece,
it boasts complex flavors of caramel, fruit and mushroom
with a firm texture. Grate atop risotto or pasta carbonara,
or simply pair with a crisp white wine, Porter or Stout.
Somerdale
Red Dragon $15.99
Taking its name from the dragon on the Welsh flag, Red
Dragon blends natural wholegrain mustard seed with mild,
piquant notes of Welsh Ale. Red Dragon is a semi soft
cheese with a smooth, creamy texture. This welsh cheddar
is perfect for grilled burgers, and adds something extra
to cheesy polenta!
Gorgonzola
Mountain Picante 12.99/lb
Gorgonzola Picante or Naturale or Mountain Gorgonzola
is the older brother of the Gorgonzola Dolce. Gourmet
Gorgonzola Picante has a thicker and dryer rind than
the younger Dolce. The flavor is piquant and spicy,
with wood mold and mushrooms, and a bite that gently
hits the tongue. The aroma is perhaps stronger than
the flavor and an almost alcoholic tang comes from the
washed rind.
Culinary
Suggestion:
Try pairing fresh fall apples with thin slices of Date
& Walnut cake. Top with a double or triple creme
cheese for a truly decadent combination. For special
finishing touches, add speck or salami to this fancy
cheese plate.
